Shows
This excellent band from Montpellier has been performing for more than twenty years all over France and Europe, participating in numerous jazz festivals, public and private concerts as well as parties, trade shows and conferences.
As a Quintet, the five musicians play with total joy and great perfection a repertoire largely enriched with classical jazz and deeply inspired from African American rhythms. They propose a mix of New Orleans, swing, blues, funk, beguine, and rock’ n roll styles.
Inspired by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie or more recently by Stan Getz and Sonny Rollins, the five musicians have also listened a lot to Louis Prima, Fats Domino and Louis Jordan, the creators of rock’ n roll before its time, a music that made every dancer’s heart race. In their quest, they also listened to what was played in Saint–Germain- des- Prés, at a time when Lester Young was the key musician of those famous nights spent in a place currently called Bilboquet but where back then French songs easily blended with Jazz.
Their fluent style is truly dazzling. They possess everything to revive the spirit of Jazz. They share their complicity, know-how, and sense of humour with the audience in every one of their shows that consistently ooze with generosity and enthusiasm. They offer true shows that are so vibrant that, for sure, groups of dancers cannot remain indifferent to their music.

As a Sextet, the band is joined by Florence Chauveau, a young twinkling jazz singer, full of talent. Her deep voice highlights blues music as well as a repertoire of outstanding jazz songs for which she always brings in much extravagance when singing Boris Vian’s compositions.
The Parade: In New Orleans, brass bands –bands performing in the streets- are fully part of every single event in daily life, be it public or private. Brass bands perform on various occasions such as christenings, weddings, funerals, congresses, carnivals, commercial entertainment, arrivals and departures etc.
They were born at the crossroads of Africa, America, and Europe.
They gave birth to an unprecedented force and large scale phenomenon, namely jazz music.
Featuring from five to nine musicians, the Caroline Jazz Band Parade can fit all situations and places, even the most unusual ones. The small size of the band allows it to react instantaneously to any situation. The established reputation of the Caroline Jazz Band Parade rests on the quality of its performance as well as on its repertoire tapped into the deep core of Jazz.
Jazzons Vian: Caroline Jazz Band has systematically included Boris Vian’s successful songs in its repertoire. The ‘Jazzons Vian’ show aims at throwing light on all the facets of this endearing and still modern genius. Extracts from novels, jazz reviews, songs and poems complement one another to give life to this fascinating character. No long pauses are to be expected in this show!
It is a touching tribute to the carefully selected texts and songs of Boris Vian. We knew these words were caustic, disturbing, tender and universal. We are surprised to discover that we know them all. The funny, whimsical but also serious insolence of Boris Vian is wrapped up in the music.
Then, the voice of the singer steps in: her presence, alternately touching, undisciplined, languorous, is sustained by the band performing an intense, insolent play constantly under control.
Caroline Jazz Band has won its bet: it made us thrill with its mix of swing and eternally evocative language. The audience did not stay still. When Boris used to play, it had to be that way! We could imagine being there.
Actually, we were there! Renaud G.
Music Events : Caroline Jazz Band is a first class jazz band that specializes in all sorts of music events e.g. jazz atmosphere, Cotton-Club parties, French swing songs, and even North-American jazz repertoire.
Musicians easily adapt their repertoire according to the style of atmosphere desired. Highly prized both in its Quintet ‘standing’ formula (saxophone, trombone, guitar, drums, double bass) and ‘walking’ formula (saxophone, trombone, banjo, side drum, sousaphone), the band also performs as a Sextet with the addition of a female jazz singer.
